my new years went something like this:

my grandmother and I rented Breakfast at Tiffany's and bought the notebook.  Then..we visited the nursing home..then we went and ate steak (pictures of the glorious steak are to come) and then came back..watched the two movies and went to bed.

Exciting huh?

Well..here is what we talk about

Me: I want to be a famous actree
Grandma: They're buliding a medical school right around the corner.
M: I want to live in the BIG CITY!
G: Palm Beach Gardens is a very "hip" area.

five minutes later

G: You know what I resent?
M: What?
G: The fact that when I make a phone call they ask me what language I want, English or Spanish.
M: Well..there are lots of spanish in the country.
G: Well..it's not a second language, what about Yiddish!!  Or Japanese!!  Why spanish.
M: Grandma, you live in South Florida.
G: Ahh.  Half of them live here illegally anyways.

five minutes later

G: When I die, you can have my bedroom furniture.
M: grandma, it's new years.
G: I may not have many more left.
M: Jesus Christ
G: You know I love you.
M: I love you too.
G: That's why you should become a doctor.
M: Holy shit.
G: I don't like that goddamn language.

I love being Jewish.

Florida has blown way harder core then I thought.  The only good parts were seeing hanna, diana and my children..pics to be posted.  Oh.  and the fabulous book I've been reading :)

Well..the whole reason we're staying so long..is to be with my grandparents..but my mom's bf got tickets to the orange bowl (not for me) so..my cousin and his friend drove down to go to the game also..  So..they come in and my grandma decides to take us all to her country club.  Let me paint you a little picture.  Ages 55 and up, beautiful terrain, golf courses gallore, countyr club like you wouldnt believe.  It's beautiful..The neighborhood is called Ibis.                                                                                                                                        

So.  we walk into this club..filled with a mix of elderly people with walkers and elderly people with golf clubs.  We stare at this buffet.  Ok..this isnt china kingdom..There are men in funny hats cutting roast beef..and guys making fresh omlets.. it's great.  so we sit down, at this table in the corner of the place.  The window where they sat us had been shattered by the hurricanes, so it was covered with this plastic mold.  Well..that wasnt good enough..so she made a big stink about moving where we'd have a nice golf course view.  Needless to say, I skimmed through my drink looking for snot.  Well..We begin our quest for food.  On about the thirs course, Dan and his friend came to sit down, but were abruptly stopped by the dress code natzis.  Their shirts werent tucked in.  Now..if you've ever met dan..he's a little bit like.. undescribable..not the shirt tucked in kind of guy.  Well..they walk out as men..and return from the bathroom as 80 year olds..  Now..last time we tried to go..they wouldnt let us in because I was wearing jeans..so my grandma was pretty furiated..there were a couple of crasians a few tables down who had kids without their shirts tucked in...oh man..it was a fiasco.  F-I-A-S-C-O.

Uggh.  It was pretty much the greatest moment ever.
